Finding Beauty: A 30-Day Photo Challenge

Day 1 of my #30DaysOfBeauty challenge 🍂 Starting with the season that always feels like magic to me — autumn. The colors, the stillness, the reminder that change can be beautiful. Here’s to slowing down and really seeing it again.
Day 1 of my #30DaysOfBeauty challenge 🍂 Starting with the season that always feels like magic to me — autumn. The colors, the stillness, the reminder that change can be beautiful. Here’s to slowing down and really seeing it again.

See the good, capture the beautiful, shift your perspective.

There was a time when I was really struggling to see the beauty in the world around me. Everything felt kind of heavy and gray, and the little things that usually made me smile were just… hard to notice.

So, I decided to try something simple — a 30-day photo challenge. Every day, I went out looking for one thing that felt beautiful to me and snapped a picture of it. Some days it was easy — a sunrise, a steaming cup of coffee, my cat being adorable. Other days, I had to work for it — a messy kitchen that meant family had gathered, raindrops on the window, the quiet of an early morning before the world woke up.

What surprised me was how quickly my mindset started to shift. The more I looked for beauty, the more I saw it. The world didn’t really change — I did.

Recently, Britt and I were talking about that experience on the Finding Fulfillment in the Fuckery episode of the Complete Wellness Podcast. She was looking around my studio at the landscape photos I’d taken back then — the ones I printed and hung up — and I suddenly realized… I couldn’t remember the last time I’d stopped to take a landscape picture.

During that conversation, Britt pointed out something that really stuck with me: every time I talk about a time when I’ve felt most inspired or spiritually connected, it always seems to involve nature. I honestly hadn’t noticed that pattern before, but she was totally right.

And that hit me — lately, I’ve been so caught up in the busyness of everyday life that I haven’t really seen what’s around me. I’ve been missing those small, grounding, beautiful moments.

So, I decided it’s time to do it again — another 30-day photo challenge. And honestly, this feels like the perfect season for it. Autumn has always been my favorite time of year — the colors, the crisp air, the way everything feels alive and changing.

Here’s the idea: for the next 30 days, let’s look for one beautiful thing every day and capture it. It doesn’t have to be fancy or profound — just something that catches your eye or makes you pause for a second. You can use your phone, a camera, whatever you’ve got handy.

If you want to share your photos, post them with the hashtag #30DaysOfBeauty so we can all follow along and encourage each other. Or keep them just for you — that’s totally fine too.

By the end of the 30 days, I’m willing to bet you’ll start noticing more beauty in your everyday life — even in the middle of the chaos.

So what do you say? Want to join me? Let’s start today. One photo, one moment, one bit of beauty at a time.

In the mess & the magic,

Carrie
