Setting Your Intention: Reestablishing Your Daily Routine After a Hectic Summer

ree

While I enjoy summer, there's a sense of relief and anticipation when Labor Day arrives, signaling a return to my usual routine. There couldn't be a better time to set my intention and direct my energy toward reducing stress, improving focus, and successfully reestablishing my routine.

Last week, we started the Wednesday night online workshops with an engaging discussion that led us directly to this topic, and this is how it unfolded.

We first introduced meditation. I began by asking about participants' experience with meditation and attempted to ease anyone's anxiety by emphasizing that the workshop was suitable for everyone, whether new to meditation or experienced. We talked about some benefits of meditation and shared concerns about whether we were practicing correctly or gaining the expected results. We also discussed that it's normal for the mind to wander and that there's no need to be upset if this happens during meditation. Instead, simply acknowledge your thoughts and redirect your focus back to your breath.

We then switched off our cameras and microphones and proceeded with the meditation. Upon returning, we shared our experiences and, before concluding, discussed any obstacles people were facing and brainstormed solutions to overcome those challenges.

During our discussion following meditation, a particular challenge emerged as Labor Day nears, prompting thoughts of returning to normal routines after a hectic summer and the associated difficulties. A participant mentioned the stress of struggling to leave work-related stress behind and not bringing it home, impacting her evening with family. We suggested developing a brief meditation practice that could be used at the end of the workday to alleviate stress, helping you feel more prepared to enjoy quality time with your family.

As a continuation of last week's workshop, I've developed a meditation specifically for this purpose. It's a brief session, lasting less than ten minutes, designed to help you release the stress from your workday before heading home to your family. You can find both the written and audio versions through the links below.

You can find both the written meditation as well as the guided meditation below.

Following last week's workshop, I believe it would be advantageous for us all to explore the topic further to ensure a smooth transition from summer.

WHAT TO EXPECT

This Wednesday, September 3rd @ 7 PM join me to discuss:

Setting Your Intention: Reestablishing Your Daily Routine After a Hectic Summer

You set intentions to align your daily actions with your desired way of being, focusing on cultivating specific qualities or attitudes rather than just achieving a future outcome. This practice increases self-awareness, eases stress, improves focus, and fosters a greater sense of purpose by guiding your mindset, decisions, and energy toward what truly matters to you.

In this week's workshop, we'll begin by sharing tips on how to transition effectively, engage in a guided meditation to walk through setting your intention, and conclude with a discussion on the challenges faced during this transition, brainstorming strategies to overcome them.

Join me on Wednesday, September 3rd at 7 PM for our discussion. For an introductory time the workshop fee is just $5, but seats are limited, so click below to join!
