"I've been successful with Foundations on my own or I wouldn't be doing it again. But in the last three weeks I think I've had more growth because I'm doing it with a buddy. So I think this is going to be, by far, my most successful eight-week program."
~ Britt Kelso
For the past twelve years, I have been involved in the coaching industry in various roles, including health coaching, life coaching, teaching fitness classes, and personal training. Four years ago, I earned my ACE certification as a Health Coach and Behavior Change Specialist. Over the past year, during my recovery from a total knee replacement, I decided it was an opportune moment to prepare for the next phase of my career. I became a Precision Level 1 Nutrition Coach, a Mental Well-Being Certified Fitness Professional, and most recently a National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach.
The reason I've devoted so much time to my education is to absorb all the knowledge I can to become a better coach for you. I have been dedicated to this for quite some time and have eagerly awaited the opportunity to share the new services I will be offering with you.
NEW SERVICE
Next Wednesday, August 27th at 7 PM, I will begin offering a weekly online self-improvement group workshop designed to empower individuals on their journey to wellness. Topics include self-acceptance, assertiveness, body image, and mindfulness, featuring guided meditations and brainstorming sessions to address personal challenges. Join us to cultivate a positive mindset and overcome life obstacles in a supportive environment, all while fostering resilience and growth.
Next week, we will delve into the benefits of meditation. I will host an online workshop featuring a guided meditation, a discussion on its potential benefits, and a brainstorming session to generate ideas for overcoming challenges when incorporating it into your routine.
For an introductory period the fee is just $5, but seats are limited, so click below to join.
TESTIMONIAL & NEW FOUNDATIONS PODCAST
(Also available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and wherever you get your podcasts)
This week's podcast not only presents a great discussion, but also offers insight into the discussions that will take place in the group workshops starting next week.
Over the past ten years as a coach, one of my key projects has been the development of the Foundations program. I created it during a challenging period in my life when, following my divorce, I found myself with nothing, sleeping on the floor with my ten-year-old son. I had to figure out how to rebuild my life, and the result was Foundations. This program goes beyond physical wellness; it addresses all areas of life, including emotional, occupational, financial, environmental, social, intellectual, spiritual, and physical aspects, helping you achieve a balance that suits you. Foundations encourages setting long-term goals, breaking them down into smaller, manageable steps. It teaches self-monitoring, necessary adjustments, and behavior pattern analysis, ultimately helping you establish a stable foundation to maintain control regardless of life's challenges.
Twelve years ago, I used Foundations to get my life in order, and I continue to rely on it today. It's my go-to method whenever I want to make changes in my life—whether it's improving my physical fitness, recovering from an injury, advancing my career, achieving financial stability, or any of the numerous other goals it has helped me accomplish over the years.
Last summer, for the first time, I chose to participate in the Foundations Program with a good friend. Although we had distinct goals, we met weekly to work through the program together. We supported, motivated, and held each other accountable. Every week, we recorded our sessions, intending to share them with you as a reference.
I’ve recently been working to prepare everything to finally share with you. Today, I've decided to present some previews from the first five weeks of our meetings. Listening to our discussions, a couple of things stood out to me. First, it’s incredible how much progress we’ve both made in a year and a half, which we’ll be sharing with you in just a few weeks. I was also moved to tears listening back to our conversations—they were so powerful and empowering! We delved into some challenging topics, and we were both quite open and honest about our struggles, sometimes expressing things we’d never said out loud before. But we also shared how we overcame them, how we pushed forward, and how we ultimately completed this eight-week program, achieving some changes. There were definitely tears during our discussions as we confronted and acknowledged our own behaviors, but we accomplished some truly remarkable things and overcame significant obstacles, and we’re so glad we put in the effort.
Today, I have clips for you covering some of the topics that will be discussed in the podcast, including:
Being prepared
How to avoid setting unrealistic expectations
How to analyze your own behavior patterns
Balancing a busy life with routine
Life disruptions that upset your routine (Empty Nest)
How to break long-term goals into smaller, attainable goals
The power of education and being your own health advocate
Trusting your body and intuition.
Treating the root cause with healthy behaviors rather than medicine
Increasing the intensity of your routine
Logging nutrition
Shame eating
Modifying rather than just quit
The benefit of developing a strong support network
Changing activities when overcoming injury
Natural remedies
Professional development - occupational, intellectual, and spiritual wellness
Masculine vs feminine energy (with we all have both!) Doing vs. Being energy

This podcast offers just a glimpse of what's ahead. Looking back over the past year and a half, there is so much more I am excited to share.
This week on the Foundations podcast, I share excerpts from the first five weeks of the program Britt and I completed last summer. Next week, I'll present clips from the program's concluding weeks. Ultimately, I'll provide our full weekly meetings for you to use as a resource.
In the upcoming episodes, Britt and I will revisit some of the challenges we faced during our eight-week program and discuss all the changes that Foundations, and working through it together, truly initiated for us.
